Win2k Server Configuration
User profiles
If the roaming profiles can not be updated (access is denied), change
permissions on the profiles directory and share.
See registry patches in the root's home dir for the explorer folders
redirection. Note: in certain cases redirection can cause Office XP to fail.
DNS server configuration
- Apply a patch to the registry allowing NetLogon to register its DNS
records. Located in:
\\Mccoy\KML_root\users\root\Registry\ServerNetlogonParamsPatch.reg
Without this patch NetLogon service is unable to dynamically add DNS records, and it
generates misleading error messages in the log:
Event ID: 5782. Dynamic registration or deregistration of one or more DNS
records failed with the following error: No DNS servers configured for local
system.
- Disable forwarders - the clients already have a list of DNS servers that can
service out-of-domain requests.
DNS client on the server:
- Make sure that the server's IP is the first on its DNS address list.
- Disable DNS client service as in the W2K workstation.
